One of the new features available to us
as a result of our mailserver upgrade is the ability to utilize third
party SPAM blacklist administration. The process of blocking email from
blacklisted domain names is nothing new at netINS, Inc.. In the past we have
always internally maintained a list of domain names that we would not
accept email from because they were sending unsolicited, bulk email
to our customers. The fact that it was a list that was maintained internally
meant that we didn't have all the resources necessary to make sure we
were blocking all of the domains we should.
With our new third party administrative capabilities, we are able to verify incoming email against a variety of
third party blacklist providers. These providers specialize in maintaining up to date, accurate databases of mail
servers that allow SPAM. When someone attempts to mail from a domain that is listed in one of the provider databases,
our mail server will reply to the sender indicating that their domain has been blacklisted. The blocked sender can reply
to the initial blacklist message to get contact information.
The text of that email will refer the offending mail server administrator to our various blacklist providers for more
information. These providers are listed on the table to right. Since we do not maintain any of these third party blacklists,
we do not have the authority to remove an offending domain from the database. Thus, it is imperative that administrator
contact the referring provider.
In addition, we have had to add some domains to our own Email blacklist
due to massive amounts of SPAM attempts. If this is this case, the blacklist
notification will come directly from netINS, Inc. and not a third party
provider. If an individual receives notice that netINS, Inc. has blacklisted
their domain, their mail server administrator will have to contact netINS, Inc.
directly to resolve the issue. Once again, this applies to cases where
it has been determined that netINS, Inc. has blacklisted their domain
internally.
As always, if you have questions concerning our SPAM filter procedures,
please contact Internet Technical Support at 1-800-205-1110 or
via Email at support@netins.net.
